Mens' Health

While the majority of this website appears to be aimed at women and children, Belinda also treats and welcomes male patients. Belinda is experienced in treating men for a wide variety of reasons from fatigue and depression to wellness. Belinda encourages all men to be proactive in taking charge of their health and is able to tailor a treatment protocol to suit their individual needs.

Australian men suffer many health problems such as:

  • Stress and fatigue
  • Obesity and diabetes
  • Insomnia
  • Heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol
  • Respiratory diseases and immune problems
  • Depression and other mental health disorders
  • Malignant (cancerous) tumours
  • Sexual health issues

According to the Victorian government website, Australian men are more likely to get sick from serious health problems, than Australian women. Their mortality (death) rate is also much higher. The poor health status of Australian men is complicated by the fact that men are more likely than women to shy away from medical treatment of any kind. The lack of health awareness and unwillingness to adopt a healthier lifestyle also disadvantages men.

Males in Australia, are less inclined than women to take an active role in maintaining their own health. They are also less likely to seek professional help for problems, particularly those of an emotional nature. The Western definition of masculinity includes strength and silence. Men may feel that it is a sign of weakness or ‘femininity’ to seek help.

Many men also come to the clinic as part of a fertility management program which is targeted toward the treatment and health of both prospective parents. For more information on this, please see the ‘Fertility Management‘ page on this website.
